Our Core ValuesAs times change and methods change, there is still the core that remains the same about our church. Here is our mission statement and six core value statements that define the DNA of Neighborhood Church.
Our Mission
Our mission is to mobilize an army to fulfill the Great Commission.

We see every Christian as a missionary, and Redding, Shasta County, and the whole world as our mission field. We actively and passionately pursue lost and hurting people. We seek to create Christians who are globally minded and locally connected. We will do whatever we can to bring the Gospel of Christ to our local communities and around the world.
KEY SCRIPTURES: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8, NKJV. (Matthew 28:18-29; Matthew 22:37-39; Matt 5:13-16; James 2:18,19,20)

We are committed to an intentional journey, guiding believers from spiritual birth to maturity. We do this mainly through purposeful relationships. We desire a church-wide culture that expects Christ-likeness in every believer. As disciples of Jesus, we seek to know him, follow his example, worship him and pursue Him with our whole heart, soul, mind, and spirit, as our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.
KEY SCRIPTURE: “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men [and women] who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2, NKJV. (Romans 12:1,2; Matthew 28:19,20)

We strive to be a Christ-centered community that pursues God (lovers of God) and incarnates his love by serving one another (lovers of people). We express this value as we connect with one another in body life (such as Impact groups or ministry teams), share life together, serve others in the Body of Christ, and develop ministries that support healthy families.
KEY SCRIPTURE: “These things I command you, that you love one another.” John 15:17, NKJV. (1 Corinthians 13; Philippians 2:1-5; 1 Peter 4:8-10)

We are created for worship, which is the ongoing expression of our love, affection, appreciation, and admiration of God. This expression is a response to who God is and what he’s done. This expression takes many forms: we worship God by knowing, serving, and obeying him; we worship God by becoming all He designed us to be; we worship God by experiencing his grace to the maximum. Our corporate worship is expressed in a variety of ways, including music, prayer, fellowship, and God’s Word. We strive to make our corporate worship culturally relevant to the people God has called us to reach.
KEY SCRIPTURE: “He has put a new song in my mouth--Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the LORD.” Psalm 40:3. (Psalm 66:1, Malachi 1:11, 1 Corinthians 14:9-26)

We celebrate God's amazing grace. We affirm grace as the centerpiece both of salvation and of our lives after salvation. We are committed to grow in our knowledge of grace, to communicate a message of grace, to apply grace to the deepest needs of our hearts, to walk in the liberty and power of grace, and to embrace all people--without exception--in a spirit of grace.
KEY SCRIPTURE: “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:1, NKJV. (Titus 2:11-13; 2 Peter 3:18,19; 2 Timothy 2:1; Galatians 5:1)

We surrender to the authority of Scripture, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and in every way possible. We are committed to use God's Word to transform our own lives, and the lives of everybody around us. Therefore we value the Word as we read it, study it, memorize it, meditate on it, proclaim it, employ it in worship, receive instruction in it, and apply it to our daily lives.
KEY SCRIPTURE: “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” Acts 20:32, NKJV. (Hebrews 4:12; Colossians 3:16; 2 Timothy 2:15; John 5:39; Ephesians 6:17 )
